FOOTBALL PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY

Program Philosophy:  The ultimate goal of our football program is to be a model Division 5 football program the entire school and community can be proud of both on the football field and in the classroom.  We expect our players to prioritize their actions based on the following order of Faith, Family, Education, Team, and Self.  While making all decisions based on this order, players and coaches will be making the right choices.  We expect to build our program with young men who display positive character, self-discipline, and school and team pride.  We will teach and stress good work habits, leadership skills, teamwork, and commitment while we strive to reach our highest potential.  Coaches and Players will live by the motto of M.T.I.X.E. – Mental Toughness Intensity and Xtra Effort.

Coaching Philosophy:  We will create an atmosphere of pride and teach each player the importance of commitment, attitude, confidence, character, knowledge, and teamwork, and how these factors apply to life as well as football.  Any student wishing to be a member of the program will be given this opportunity as long as they adhere to the philosophy of the program.  I believe that all members of the football team in their Junior or Senior year who contribute to the success of the varsity team will earn a Varsity letter.

Offensive Philosophy:  We are going to be a physical offensive team that it built around a power running scheme.  Our running game will set up the passing game where we can create big plays due to our opponent being forced to place more defenders in the box to stop our running game.  We will scheme to put the football into the hands of our best athletes in positions to be successful.  The offense will be built upon a foundation of fundamentals.

Defensive Philosophy:  We will be an attacking and swarming defense who relentlessly pursues to the football – “Creating chaos and havoc under an umbrella of discipline.” We will emphasize take-a-ways on a daily basis so that it becomes second nature when in game situations.  We will be sound in our assignments and mentally prepared for making the needed adjustments to our opponents formations and motions.

Special Teams Philosophy:  Special Teams will be a great sense of pride for each and every unit.  We will look to get as many fresh bodies on the field as possible to give us the best chance of performing at the highest level.  We need players who are willing to sacrifice themselves for the goals of the team while staying discipline to their individual assignments.
